Welcome to Botswana! Go letlelelwa!

The Okavango River bursts upon the dry Kalahari sands of northern Botswana in an annual flood. From a wide winding river it spreads gently towards Maun through tiny channels, before disappearing into the thirstland. The floodwaters link a succession of ever-changing lagoons, islands, grasslands and flooded plains in a mosaic of land and water. The Okavango Delta safari is the ultimate african safari trip. Highlights of a Botswana vacation include fishing on the Chobe River and a mokoro trail in the Moremi Game Reserve.

Landlocked, Botswana has South Africa as its southern border and Namibia to the west and north. Ngamiland, in the north, is characterised by the unique Okavango Delta. Further south, specially adapted animals survive in the Kalahari Desert, while the Chobe River in the north attracts huge herds of elephants. This is a dry arid country with warm, dry winters and hot summers. The Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe lie to the east and can be easily combined in an itinerary.

Weather - Dec, Jan, Feb and March is the wet season, but travel is not unduly discouraged. If you are not afraid of the rain it is a lovely time to visit, lush and cooler than year end. The remainder of the year is fine, with Nov/ Dec being very hot. The peak tourist season is July – Sept, with much higher prices. Game viewing is much better in the dry, hot season when animals congregate around the water.

The Okavango River drains into the desert and creates a wonderland of waterways, rivers, lagoons and canals in an otherwise exceptionally dry area. It is teeming with wildlife and birds, making it a unique destination to visit. Whether you are looking for accommodation in Botswana, tranquil mokoro rides in shallow canals, the excitement of Tiger fishing from a power boat, walking safaris amongst big game, day and night game drives in open vehicles, sitting at a waterhole in the desert watching the wildlife drink, or celebrating a milestone birthday or occasion with family and friends, Botswana has it all.
